Parking Keerdok was festively opened in the presence of the city council, mayor and the partners involved. Parking Keerdok, a design by POLO -Archipelago, is an architectural masterpiece and an important new landmark for the City of Mechelen.
A parking garage ... although the project by developers Mont-Real and Kairos, pioneers in transforming abandoned parts of the city into valuable, attractive and sustainable residential environments, is much more than that. The realization of Parking Keerdok heralds the start of a large-scale transformation of the area around the Keerdok into a vibrant new urban neighborhood. Built for the future and an example of sustainable urban development at the European level.
Up and coming durable... 🌱
...Because, the facade grid not only looks beautiful, but carries the entire building, and that is groundbreaking says Wim Straetmans. The parking building is one large, column-free span with extra free height and can therefore easily be repurposed for offices, retail, businesses or even housing. With the construction of this new parking, we are creating added value for the entire city.
The site team from BAM Interbuild has been working on this project for about 2 years, and is currently finalizing the top 2 layers of office buildings.
