New construction of apartments and service flats with "chipped masonry facade"
Cocoon and Domitys are 2 sub-projects housed in the same building. Domitys utilizes the largest part with 116 service apartments spread over 7 floors. The other part Cocoon, with 16 apartments, is spread over 6 floors.
The building was constructed in a U-shape to form a semi-enclosed outdoor space.
The facade was constructed largely of facade masonry that is "chipped. This gives a caged appearance, but with the roughness of a cementation. On the ground floor, the terraces are finished with natural stone panels. A green roof is provided on the roof.
Interbuild is realizing Cocoon and Domitys for the builder Triple Living.
Cocoon and Domitys are part of the 'Nieuw Zuid' project, a new neighborhood in the south of Antwerp.
The project area is located between the Scheldt quays, the Namenstraat, the Jan van Gentstraat, the Brusselstraat and the Ring.
For the entire "Nieuw Zuid" site, an external heat network was constructed by the city of Antwerp, providing heat to each building through the use of renewable energy.
