St. Peter's Gate Ghent
High-level living in an innovative urban neighborhood
On Koningin Fabiolalaan, near Ghent-Sint-Pieters station, Sint-Pieterspoort will soon arise: an ambitious urban development project that is part of the thorough transformation of this Ghent neighborhood. What is today still a stony office site will be transformed into a vibrant, green city district with a mix of living, working, leisure and public functions.
Two residential towers with a view of the future
Highlight of the project are two elegant towers, each 60 meters high. Good for 206 apartments, with a wide variety of one-, two- and three-bedroom units. Each apartment is functionally laid out, bathed in light and features a generous terrace thanks to continuous concrete floor edges 1.3 meters deep. The structure itself forms the facade: a rhythmic play of gray concrete elements, with a light glass facade in wooden joinery behind.
The towers offer spectacular views of the Ghent skyline as well as a strong architectural identity. The design is by OFFICE Kersten Geers David Van Severen in collaboration with Bontinck Architecture & Engineering, commissioned by Triple Living and Groep Caenen Capital Fund.
Vibrant plinth and green zone
The ground floors are reserved for neighborhood-oriented functions. There will be commercial spaces, closed utility rooms, the entrance areas and a glass hospitality pavilion between the towers. That pavilion will be carefully integrated as the lively capstone of the courtyard: an open, bright meeting place for residents and visitors.
The central square itself will be car-free, softened and green. With attention to biodiversity, rainwater infiltration and pleasant living spaces, the square plays a crucial role in the project's quality of life. All facades, including those on the ground floor, are designed as fully-fledged front facades, with a uniform appearance and refined detailing.
Smart mobility
St. Peter's Gate is putting maximum effort into sustainable mobility. Car traffic is discouraged, while cycling and shared transportation are fully facilitated. Each floor has its own bicycle shed, directly connected to the apartments. At ground level, there is also a separate space per tower for outsized bicycles (64 spaces per tower).
St. Peter's Gate is urban renewal at its best: architecturally strong, ecologically grounded, and ready for Ghent's future.
