This project includes the renovation of the old gendarmerie office with a new wing, commissioned by the City of Halle, for the Zennevallei Police Zone. The old gendarmerie barracks was converted into a modern police station for the Zenne Valley Police Zone. The previous gendarmerie building was completely gutted and rebuilt. A complete new building was then placed at the rear, virtually doubling the available space. The exterior of the building was executed in black bardage panels complemented by gray facade brickwork. On the inside, an industrial look was created by leaving the old, restored concrete structure visible. The offices are demarcated with glass walls, giving a spacious feeling to the employees.
The station will house the intervention teams, the criminal investigation department, the neighborhood police, the inspectors and the juvenile police, as well as a shooting range and a cell complex of seven cells and a youth cell. For security, a bulletproof entrance desk was provided, as well as an access control system with a lock operation.
The police department has fully occupied the building since Oct. 5, 2021.
