Apartments, student rooms, office building, parking and service and hospitality spaces with contemporary design

Stad Brugge gave the green light for the realization of lot 2B within the "Nieuw Brugge" project. The design provides for the construction of 95 apartments, 154 student rooms, an office building for NMBS, a parking lot and service and hospitality areas.

This is a project of nearly 25,000sqm that was completed by Interbuild in 24 months.

The project is located in the station area of Bruges, side center. It connects to the already realized lot 1B by Group GL, where Media Markt, Ibis Budget Hotel and an apartment building are now located, among others, and is also adjacent to the existing covered parking building.

The design is by Crepain Binst Architecture and Edward Sorgeloose Architecture in collaboration with R O T S architecture and provides a contemporary design and volume structure. The plans for plot 2B were drawn up after extensive consultation with the Bruges city authorities and were also submitted to the Unesco Expert Committee (ECU). After all, the developments in the station area have a direct visual impact on the World Heritage Site of Bruges.

The current present design cuts through the lot, creating more openness and avoiding a heavy contiguous building block. Visually, this creates more openness throughout the lot, and also makes the area behind it more visible. As a result, the complex makes a less heavy and unwieldy impression. The design was conceived in three building parts, connected by a semi-underground parking lot, where the access to the (bicycle) storerooms and technical areas is also located. The main entrances are situated around a central courtyard at boulevard level.
