New office complex consisting of 5 separate buildings placed on one glass base

On the initiative of real estate developer Landsbeeck NV, Interbuild completed a project of ± 43,000 m² of offices over a length of 300 meters along Tiensevest. This new office complex, located between Martelarenplein and Provincieplein, consists of 5 separate buildings placed on a single glass base.

Completely in accordance with the BPA before us, a complex was designed that had to fill the existing gap between the Station and the Provincial Building, but at the same time would still create sufficient open space. In view of this requirement, a fully transparent plinth with a height of 5 m was chosen. In addition, a split façade was used on the railroad side, creating an even larger view from Tiensevest through the office complex, towards the railroad. All buildings have a façade in granite and glass. The natural stone was treated in various ways. For example, flame blasting, fringing and water jet, and extremely high water pressure were used to roughen the natural stone. Multiple shades, red, white, green, black and yellow, now color the Tiensevest.

Buildings B and C and D and E became the new offices for KBC Insurance. The City of Leuven moved its own administration to the station location and chose building A with a view of Martelarenplein. Under the glass base is an underground parking garage for 700 vehicles spread over 3 layers according to the split-level system. Layers -1 and -1 ½ are used as public bicycle storage for 5,000 bicycles and are publicly accessible via Tiensevest in three places.
