Expansion for residential and care center The Mick

In the wooded area of Brasschaat, Interbuild built the extension to the existing De Mick clinic and residential and care center, commissioned by the non-profit organization Heropbeuring. The newly built wings were added for the residential group for elderly people with non-congenital brain injuries, more specifically MS and coma patients. The entire new building comprised a ground floor of over 2,000m2, with a crawl space over the entire surface area, including a connection to the already existing section.

The project consisted of building 26 rooms with bathroom, common areas for patients such as a living room, ergo... as well as private changing rooms for the staff. The shell structure was built almost entirely in traditional masonry and was calculated for the possible subsequent construction of an additional floor. The facade masonry and aluminum exterior joinery are in line with the already existing wings of De Mick. The infrastructure was put into use as of July 2010.
