To strengthen our ongoing projects, we are looking for a dedicated Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) specialist!
Function
You will provide optimal support in implementing preventive and corrective measures related to safety, sustainability, and well-being at our construction sites. Here are some of your responsibilities:
- You analyze risks: you identify the risks associated with each workstation by category (human factors, equipment, environment, products, work organization) and propose measures.
- You will be part of various site teams working together to develop preventive measures to ensure that the work can be carried out.
- You will provide information and advice to the employer and employees on all technical matters related to safety, sustainability, and well-being in the workplace (including the annual action plan and the comprehensive prevention plan).
- You will actively support and advise site management in drafting safety project plans, reviewing subcontractors’ safety plans, and organizing toolbox meetings.
- You provide advice on purchases (PPE, high-risk work equipment, etc.), the commissioning of work equipment, evacuation plans, workplace accidents, etc., and ensure that these are properly monitored.
- You will be part of the research team responsible for accident and incident investigations.
- You will develop information and awareness campaigns focused on safety, sustainability, and well-being in the workplace.
- You convey your enthusiasm and passion for prevention to all employees in the organization. You are able to encourage and motivate people to implement the agreed-upon preventive measures.
- You will conduct safety inspections in collaboration with management and subcontractors.
- You will maintain the ISO and VCA systems in consultation with the other safety advisors and in collaboration with the relevant parties.
- You’ll help put our GO’s, NO GO’s, Safety Principles, and Life Saving Rules into practice.
- You actively contribute to raising our safety culture to a higher level.
Profile
- You hold a Level I or II occupational safety and health advisor certification, or are willing to obtain one.
- Ideally, you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
- Additional training as an environmental coordinator is a plus, but not a requirement.
- You have several years of relevant experience working in an HSE role at a construction company.
- You have a thorough understanding of workplace well-being laws and general workplace safety regulations. You have expertise in the field of risk analysis.
- You are results-oriented and work in a structured manner. You have strong communication skills and are able to build a network.
- You have a thorough knowledge of Dutch and a basic knowledge of French.
