Residential high-rise with White Framework as part of New South site

The Scheldezicht project is divided into a residential high-rise supplemented by offices, commercial spaces and community spaces.

The L-shaped ground plan consists of a residential tower of 23 above-ground floors located along Vanhoenacker Street and a mid-rise building of 4 above-ground floors located along Jos Smolderen Street. The project will house 157 apartments, 4 commercial spaces, 900m² of offices and community spaces. Together with the neighboring Scheldekaai and Zuiderflank project, the building has a common basement consisting of three underground levels that house parking, among other things.

The "White Framework" defines the architectural character of the building and consists of a combination of continuous terraces and façade columns, both of which were produced in white architectural concrete. Between the White Framework, individual balconies were installed that stagger each floor. The façade between the terraces was constructed of gable brickwork and aluminum exterior joinery in anthracite color. The terraces were finished with wood cladding and a glass parapet.

On the north façade, winter gardens were realized by an enclosed glass façade over 18 floors, equipped with opening sections. The flat roof of the mid-rise building was laid out as a communal roof garden. The flat roof of the high-rise building was constructed as an extensive green roof.

Interbuild completed Scheldezicht for the builder Triple Living.

Scheldezicht is part of the Nieuw Zuid project, a new neighborhood in the south of Antwerp. The project area is located between the Scheldt quays, the Brusselstraat and the Ring Road. For the entire Nieuw Zuid site, an external heat network was installed by the city of Antwerp, providing heat to every building by using renewable energy.
