New office building, restaurant and luxury apartments within New Bruges project

New Bruges Phase III consists of the construction of two new buildings on lot 3B within the "New Bruges" project.

The first building consists of two parts. The largest part contains offices and a company restaurant for Proximus and the second smaller part houses a Radisson Blu hotel with 106 rooms. On top of both sections are 18 luxury apartments, with the hotel's meeting rooms above.

The second building next door houses 30 apartments with ground-floor commercial space.

A center plaza with trees is provided between the two buildings. The whole rests on an underground parking lot built as an extension of the already existing adjacent public parking lot.

The site "Nieuw Brugge" is located between the railway station and the ring road of Bruges, near the historic center.

Like Nieuw Brugge Phase II, also executed by Interbuild, this phase is also a development by Houthalen-based Group GL.

Crepain Binst Architecture already drew an important part of phase II and was also commissioned to design this third phase in its entirety. Thesetwo building blocks, each with its own architecture, form a whole in itself.

Most of the facades were constructed in wood frame construction and clad with a combination of beams and columns in fiber cement sheets and perforated aluminum panels. This method allowed the architect to defer material choices until when the building is already several stories high. The remaining facades consist of masonry and architectural concrete.

Overall, the project will meet current standards. The contiguity of the station to the hotel is an acoustical challenge.
