Social - Swallow Fund

At BAM Belgium, we do more than build buildings, infrastructure and living environments. We also strive to make a positive contribution to society. That is why we established the Zwaluwfonds in 2012, supporting social initiatives that make a meaningful difference for people who need additional opportunities, support or prospects.

Since 2019, we have selected projects each year that have a personal connection with our employees. This involvement is what makes the Zwaluwfonds unique: it is our colleagues themselves who nominate organisations that are close to their hearts.

This year, four organisations each received a donation of €2,500. Our employees personally presented the cheques, taking the opportunity to learn more about the organisations and demonstrate their commitment. A personal handover was not possible at this stage for St. Benedict Poultry Enterprise. However, one of our colleagues is closely involved in the project and plans to visit the site early next year.

Helpende Handjes vzw

Helpende Handjes supports families and individuals who find themselves in vulnerable situations, either temporarily or over a longer period. The organisation provides practical assistance, support and a listening ear to people facing difficult circumstances.

With the support of the Zwaluwfonds, Helpende Handjes can further strengthen its daily operations and continue helping people who often fall through the cracks of existing support systems.

St. Benedict Poultry Enterprise (Kenia)

St. Benedict's School aims to develop a sustainable poultry farming enterprise that will provide long term financial support for the school. Revenue generated through egg sales is used to fund school meals, scholarships for vulnerable students and the school's day to day operations.

The project also gives students the opportunity to gain practical experience in entrepreneurship and agribusiness. In this way, it combines economic sustainability with meaningful educational benefits.

Thanks to the support of the Zwaluwfonds, the first phase of the project can continue to be rolled out. One of our colleagues is closely involved in this initiative and will visit the project site early next year to assess its progress and impact.

Athena Open Leercentrum

Athena Open Leercentrum supports young people for whom the traditional educational pathway is not always straightforward. In addition to intensive educational guidance, the organisation places a strong focus on social support and family assistance.

Because Athena works with fully customised teaching materials, printing and copying costs represent a significant expense. Our donation helps the organisation continue providing high quality educational resources tailored to the specific needs of its students. This gives more young people the opportunity to successfully continue their education.

BONZA

BONZA supports young people who are at risk of dropping out of mainstream education by providing an environment where personal growth, confidence and future opportunities take centre stage. Together with the young people and their families, customised programmes are developed to give them every opportunity to grow and thrive.

The support of the Zwaluwfonds contributes to BONZA's day to day operations and enables the organisation to provide additional support to students and families who need it most.
Anja De Neve, Wellbeing Coordinator at GO! Scholengroep Brussel:
"Thanks to BAM Belgium's donation, we can provide even more support to students and families where it is truly needed."

Building social impact together

With a total financial contribution of €10,000, the Zwaluwfonds is once again supporting four projects this year that make a tangible difference in people's lives. We are proud that, through the commitment of our employees, we can contribute to initiatives that empower individuals, create opportunities and help build a more inclusive society.
