Interbuild successfully kicked off the summer with the completion of the new building of the Artesis Plantijn Hogeschool in Antwerp. The new campus - Campus Spoor Noord - is a technical feat. For example, the main building hangs eccentrically from the roof structure with a maximum overhang of no less than 27 meters. The distinctive white architectural concrete crosses are not only decorative but also have a structural effect.
Interbuild was responsible for the construction of the new campus, in accordance with a DBM (Design, Build, Maintain) formula. The design is by POLO Architects i.c.w. Jaspers-Eyers Architects.
Campus Spoor Noord can be seen as a counterpart to the courthouse in Antwerp-South, the butterfly building designed by Sir Richard Rogers, also a realization of Interbuild. In Antwerp North, there was not yet a specific urban icon, such as this courthouse. The new campus changes this with its unusual design.
